Water is such a miraculous substance. In the structure of the water molecule is found the smallest and interestingly enough the strongest geometric structure, a triangle. This triumvirate is created from two atoms of hydrogen bonded to one atom of oxygen. The ever vacillating bond allows for the creation of many systems of association. Herbs can be infused into water, salts can be dissolved in water, and we respire water in every breath. It is the penultimate requirement of the body, and second only to the air that we breathe in importance.

Some of our ingredients.

For the skin to be thoroughly nourished the absorbption and excretion characteristics need to work harmoniously. SLS [(sodium laureth sulfate) a foaming agent], phthalates (fragrance intensifiers and plastic solvents), and nano-particles are added to many "organic" preparations. The benefit of the organic ingredients is far outweighed by the disruptive and carcinogenic properties of the non-biological components. For more information we recommend the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics and Pollution in People

"I acquired sensitivities to my shampoo, conditioner, face cream, body lotion and my favourite fragrance. I switched brands often trying to relieve the exzema, hives and other allergic reactions that occurred with all of the commercial preparations. So I searched through my storage and found the notebook of home recipes I had made as a teen. I was horrified at what I found. The ingredients listed sounded like a perscription. I threw the notebook away and picked up my old "Culpeppers Herbal" and started to make lists of herbs according to their uses. Herbal vinegars and floral waters, first melissa and rosemary, and later on wildrose and calendula. Life became hectic while I was raising my son. I was happy to see better products on the shelves and so I went back to over the counter products. I didn't realise the damage that I was causing slowly day by day. One day I looked in the mirror. My face was a mess of broken blood vessels and I had a persistant problem with hair loss. I was unwilling to try any more concoctions. I decided to quit using all of my products for a month and see how I felt. Well I felt miserable. I was very self-conscious of whether I had odour. I realized that with the idea of personal hygiene comes the distaste we have for any of our own pure and natural processes. Cleanliness is in fact an instinctual part of our nature. It protects us by thwarting the threat of diseases conveyed by physical contact. But the methods and the products used for cleansing jeapardize that desire if they are allowed to be carcinogenic. The skin is an organ. It absorbs and excretes like all organs. If my liver was outside of my body I would not rub it with chemicals. I would not cover it with plastics and pesticides. Before we can heal the planetary ecosphere we need to clean up the ecosphere of self. The body that we inhabit deserves the best habitat we can provide."Diane Robinson Biotechnologist and creator of Groovy Bath Booty
